Top EightFilms of 2005
Jesse and I decided last night, after realizing I have watched about 520 movies in the past two years, that I need to do a top ten of 2005, except I could only think of eight films that were above a 85% rating. Here they are in no particular order:
Me, You and Everyone We Know

A sweet, funny film that totally won me over. ))<>((
Grizzly Man

Another hit from Werner Herzog. I am a fan of his work. This movie was especially disturbing, even without Klaus Kinski.
A History of Violence

Maria Bello and Viggo Mortensen shine in this dark film about secrets.
The Baxter

A sweet and funny romantic comedy. Perfect for when you are in the mood for something like that.
Capote

Philip Seymour Hoffman shines as Truman Capote. A stellar performance - I think he should win an Oscar for this one.
Steven Tobolowsky's Birthday Party

This movie is like going to a great dinner party.
I, Curmudgeon
This movie is like sitting around with a group of the most depressed, yet hilarious, people around.
Mad Hot Ballroom

Just fantastic!
I also have a lot of 2005 movies on my netflix queue that I have yet to watch - but, honestly, it was really hard to even come up with these. Come on filmmakers - wow me!
