Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeen

Happy Halloween. Celebrated on Saturday and don't think I am going to do anything tonight. Until I get my film developed here is a shot I stole from Pop's.

Phil Spector

I sort of have an obsession with Phil Spector's hairstyles. I was thrilled to see he has a new one...

from yahoo news

Books

I am constantly looking for new, good books to read. I have a hard time finding a good review site that features books that I think I may enjoy. The day has come...

Bookslut

Check it out if you like to read. I especially love the name because whenever my mom just lazes about and reads a book all day she refers to it as being slutty.

This site is where I discovered James Frey has a new book - My Friend Leonard (click to read the site's review). He wrote A Million Little Pieces which was quite good. I have requested it from the library.

A History of Violence

This movie was great. The acting was terrific, the story was interesting and, of course, Viggo was other-worldly. Without giving too much away, this movie wove suspense, thrills, sex and humor into this great story. I would recommend this movie to anyone - except the lady in the theater who yelled out 'That's disgusting' during a particularly not-so-gruesome scene.

Slow on the take

I am so behind on the hip things of today. Like, I was 6 months behind trying Sparks. I recently did at a Dolly Parton Concert. Here is a mini-diary of that momentous occassion (thanks to Car for the photos which I have stolen from her)...

Hmm... what is this stuff?

It has a funny taste, is this medicine?

I think I like it.

I really like it.

Do I love it?

I am really starting to feel it.

This is how I felt 3 hours later. zzzzt. zzzzzzt.

No more Sparks for me.

Nano - no no

I didn't break the nano. It broke itself and now I have to spend my lunch at the Apple Store which is a freaking MADHOUSE. I am aggravated - this stupid thing is 2 weeks old.

1,000 songs, impossibly useless, iPod nano

21 Grams and other stuff

21 Grams - I don't think I can say anymore other than I was bored - there were great actors in it not great acting. The story line was stale and felt like the story had been done before - maybe in another country.

Other stuff ... There isn't much. I spent my weekend cleaning up wierd areas of my house - like organizing our tupperware collection and throwing out tops that don't fit any pot or pan in our house. I am kind of excited that the weather is bad today because I just want to lounge. But, I am supposed to go see some boy band from Boston tonight at Du Nord.

Plus my iPod broke - I think I broke it. I am bummed.

Palindromes

By Todd Solondz.

Let's start by saying that I loved Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness and Storytelling. Like loved them - even though each is incredibly disturbing in their own ways. Palindromes was not at the same level as Solondz' earlier films. It is worth renting, just to see, if you already enjoy his movies -but don't expect to blown away by this one. It is interesting that the fact that the Aviva's were all played by different people, ranging from young girls to boys to older women, didn't seem to disrupt the flow of the movie for me. I just thought the storyline wasn't strong at all.

Thursday - the hardest day.

There is some crazy stuff going on in San Francisco lately. Lots of shootings, BART being packed all the time and some woman throwing her three babies into the Bay. They ranged in age from 1-6 years old.

I am obsessed with this book right now:

Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer

If you ever wanted to read an interesting book about Mormon Fundamentalists, this is the one for you. It is a true crime story with lots of history about the Mormon church and polygamy in the US.

(ps - support and UTILIZE your local public library!!!)

I am also currently listening to my friend Jesse's talk show - The Sound of Young America. Check out podcasts and the like here:

I will also make his website a permanent link, because he is so awesome!

Sneeeze

I can't stop sneezing. I really love to sneeze. It is one of my favorite activities. I warn my coworkers that I am going to be sneezing all day in the hopes that they will stop saying 'Bless You' so I don't have to say 'Thanks' every freakin' time I sneeze (trust me, I am sneezing alot).

Murder

Today I found out that my cousin's girlfriend's mother was murdered this weekend in East Bay. Yes, it is that crazy story that is all over the papers. She was a really nice woman. I only met her once at a dinner party - but she was very sweet.

The paper said that there are no suspects at this time.

Monday.....

Monday blues are coming over me today. Ugh. Back to work. Got a cold from too much wa hooing this weekend.

Great bands on Sunday afternoon/night. AC/DShe are sooooo awesome. Hot chicks playing AC/DC tunes. Check them out.

My birthday presents came in today three weeks early. How am I supposed to restrain myself?

Quiet Time

So now that Will Smith and his g-d movie entourage are done - hopefully I will get some sleep this weekend.

I realized this past week that making movies is incredibly tedious and boring work.

Tonight I might be watching this:

16

This woman just gave birth to her 16th child.

I find her hair to be the most disturbing thing about the story.

Netflix OD

I have finally taken the time to go through my netflix queue and remove enough movies so I stay under 400.

It was starting to stress me out that I had sooooo many movies to watch and not enough time.

Tonight I am watching this:

Joey Jeremiah is a dreamboat.

Update on the movie corner

I am not that much of a techie so this blog kind of sucks. I suppose I should be more fun. But I don't have a digital camera. So when I get my new computer and my new digital camera (i.e. enter the 21st Century finally) look out for new and exciting info.

But this photo has made my day. I
